FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Cellular Phone
 |
- What is the difference between Digital and Analog?
Digital Technology is an enhancement to our telecommunications infrastructure which enables us to offer enhanced features like Caller ID, clearer reception, and lower airtime rates.
- Can I still use my Analog phone?
Yes. Your analog phone will work the same as always. Plus, now you can also enjoy the added benefits of roaming for no additional charge (regular airtime charges apply). Analog customers can also add Caller ID features to their phone. Our new digital infrastructure means that Caller ID is now more advanced, with the capability of identifying cellular numbers as well as numbers from Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
- Why should I switch to Digital?
With Digital Service, your phone gives you benefits such as clearer reception, call logs where your phone registers missed calls, received calls and sent calls. Your phone also serves as a calendar and message center.
- Why can't I sign up for a digital plan with my analog phone?
Our digital rates are only applicable with digital cellular phones because digital phones are a premium product we feel that the customer deserves a reduced rate. The combination of both hopefully will encourage people to switch to digital.
- What do you mean by "clearer reception"?
On an analog phone, one problem that is encountered from time to time is static over the phone. With a digital phone, static will be greatly reduced.
- How long will my battery last on digital service?
With Digital Cellullar service, one charge of your battery will last between 100-200 hours on standby and 2-3 hours of talk time (depending upon usage). To maximize the effectiveness of your battery, we suggest that you fully charge your battery for up to 12 hours before first use. You should fully discharge your phone after the first charge. The second charge should be for 12 hours as well. After two initial charges of your battery, you should be able to rapid charge (fast charge) your battery and gain full usage.
- Why are Digital rates cheaper than Analog rates?
Digital Networks have a higher capacity with less investment.
