- What is Wireless Internet?
Wireless Internet allows you to have access to vastly superior Internet connection so you can stay in touch and be more productive even while away from your home or office. With wireless Internet, you can surf the Internet without all the wires connected to your computer. In order for this to work, you will need a laptop computer and a particular wireless card. This card is different from an air card.
- What is the difference between wireless Internet cards and air cards?
Wireless Internet cards connects you to the Internet through broadband speed. On the other hand, air cards allow you to check your email and visit websites through cellular network connectivity that are much slower than broadband speed.
- Does PTI currently offer Wireless Internet?
PTI will be offering wireless Internet soon to interested subscribers.
- When the service becomes available, how can I enroll into the program?
Drop by PTI's customer service center on middle road during regular business hours to apply for this service.
- How fast is the speed for Wireless Internet? How does it compare to DSL and Dial Up?
The actual speeds and coverage may vary. The speeds are equal to or greater than DSL.
- Is Wireless Internet easy to set up?
Yes, wireless Internet is easy to set-up and use. There are no phone lines, wiring, or separate Internet Service Provider (ISP) required. With the wireless card, it simply slides into most laptops and you can simply connect to the Internet after receiving authentication. Step-by-step instructions will be included with the equipment so as soon as you install the unit, you should be able to surf the net in an instant.
- Why would I need Wireless Internet?
If you are one of those people who is constantly on the move and would like to be connected to the Internet through broadband speed, then you are the perfect subscriber for this service.
- If my computer comes with a built in wireless card, do I still need to purchase PTIs wireless card?
Yes, you will still need PTIs card because the card connects you to PTIs Wi-MAX network. Yet, your built in card might be beneficial when you go to the US and enter locations where wireless Internet may be accessed for free.
- How can I tell if I am connected to the Internet with my Wireless Internet card?
You may sometimes see a tower signal on the lower right hand corner of your screen. If you notice the tower blinking, this means that you have access to the wireless Internet.
