Roaming (Global)
- What is IT&E Global Roaming?
With IT&E Global Roaming, you are able to use a World Phone CDMA or Quad Band GSM phone to make and receive calls/sms and use data. With your CDMA number you can travel to over 230 international destinations outside of the CNMI/Guam and US. For coverage and pricing see IT&E Global Roaming Rates.
- What is a World Phone?
A World Phone is built with both CDMA and one or more of the following technologies: Dual Band GSM, Quad Band GSM, or UMTS capabilities.
- What are some samples of a World Phone?
IT&E currently offers the following World Phones: - Blackberry 8830 World phone (Blackberry Non Camera Smartphone) (CDMA 850/1900, GSM 850/1900) Data works worldwide except in Japan and Korea. - Blackberry 9530 Storm (Blackberry Camera Smartphone) (CDMA 850/1900, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA) Data works worldwide except in Japan and Korea, however the Blackberry 9500 Storm2 will work in Japan and Korea. (Not all Blackberry Storm have UMTS, please check your device to be sure) - Blackberry 9630 Tour (Blackberry UMTS Camera Smartphone) (CDMA 850/1900, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 2100) Data will work worldwide. - Nokia 6555 - GSM Quad band/WCDMA; Data will work worldwide. - Samsung Renown U810 - CDMA/GSM Quad Band Data will work worldwide except in Japan and Korea. - Samsung Saga i770 - CDMA/GSM Quad Band Data will work worldwide except in Japan and Korea. To use data you must have a data capable phone. You can also use a Quad Band GSM phone if you do not have a World phone. (However, you will not be able to use it in Japan and Korea).
- Why do some World Phone work in Japan/Korea and others do not?
Japan and Korea uses a UMTS network, which stands for Universal Mobile Telecommunication System. It is a 4G network and requires a phone with UMTS/WCDMA settings.
- What if I'm traveling to a CDMA location?
IT&E Phones are CDMA capable. That means you can take your CDMA to the US/Indonesia/Philippine (Bayantel), Japan and Korea as a CDMA roamer.
- Can I use my IT&E GSM phone number when Global Roaming?
No. Not at this time. ONLY IT&E CDMA Postpaid Cellular Numbers are able to roam globally.
- Are there any equipment or service requirements for World Phone?
You need a Global Phone or GSM phone, a Global Roaming SIM, and add IT&E's Global Roaming service to your calling plan.
- If I sign up for IT&E Global Roaming service, do I receive a FREE GSM SIM card?
An IT&E Global SIM card is $29.95 with no monthly charge.
- I have a BlackBerry, do I need a special Global SIM card?
Yes. BlackBerry users will need the IT&E BlackBerry Global SIM card, it is also priced at $29.95 with no monthly charge.
- How can I tell I have a BlackBerry SIM?
There is a BB on the actual SIM card and on the card it is attached to.
- What are the rates for calls made and received while traveling internationally?

- What is the difference between the regular IT&E Global Sim card and the IT&E Blackberry Global Sim card?
The only difference is that the BlackBerry Global Sim is made specifically for BlackBerry devices and you will not able to use it on a non-BlackBerry device.
- Will I be able to use my data when global roaming with the regular IT&E Global Roaming Sim card?
Yes, you can use the regular Global Roaming sim. The IT&E Global Roaming Sim card is $29.95, no monthly charges. - You must sign up for data. - Have a Wireless Technician set up your phone. Global Roaming charges apply when using the IT&E Global Roaming sim when travelling.
- How do I call when traveling internationally while in GSM mode?
- In standby mode, press and hold 0 to display the + symbol. (The + symbol automatically inserts the exit code for the country from which you are calling.) - Enter the country code of the person you are calling (1 for the US). - Enter the area code/city code, followed by the number of the person you are calling. - Sample, calling to: +17021231234 - Sample, calling Melbourne, Australia: +61312341234
- How do I change the phone to GSM mode when Global Roaming?
Please see instructions for the following models IT&E offers: All Blackberry: Manage Connections/Mobile Network/Network Technology/GSM/UMTS Nokia 6555: Menu/Settings/Phone/Network Mode/UMTS (When Roaming to Japan & Korea) Samsung Renown U810: Menu/Settings & Tools/Phone Settings/Network Mode/GSM Mode Samsung Saga i770: Start/Settings/System/Network Mode/International GSM Mode For other models please refer to your phones user guide for details. It is advisable that you change the network mode when you reach your destination. (Do not use Global/GSM Mode on ANY global phone while in CNMI/Guam. You may incur large amount of roaming charges)
- How do I change the phone back to CDMA mode when I reach the CNMI/Guam/US?
Please see instructions for the following models IT&E offers: All Blackberry: Manage Connections/Mobile Network/Network Technology/1XEV Nokia 6555: Menu/Settings/Phone/Network Mode/GSM Samsung Renown U810: Menu/Settings & Tools/Phone Settings/Network Mode/CDMA Mode Samsung Saga i770: Start/Settings/System/Network Mode/CDMA Mode For other models please refer to your phone's user guide for details. It is advisable that you change the network mode once you return to the CNMI/Guam/US.
- How do I access Voice Mail while traveling internationally?
- Dial your off island voicemail access: 1-670-287-6245 (MAIL). - Prompt will ask for a voicemail box number: enter 670 and your 7-digit number. - Prompt will ask for a PIN: enter your 4-digit PIN.
- Will my features be available while traveling internationally?
Features are subject to local capabilities and may not be available while roaming internationally.
- How long does it typically take for Global Phone charges to show on my bill?
Please allow up to 60 days for your IT&E Global Roaming bill to take effect.
- I have Unlimited data on my plan, will I be able to use data when I am Global Roaming?
Yes, but it is not included in your Unlimited Data plan and additional charges will apply. Data is now part of IT&E's Global Roaming plan. Enjoy web browsing, checking your email for as low as $0.03 per kb. Using data while global roaming is not part of any Unlimited Data Plan. Global roaming with data will cost $0.03 per kb.
- Do I have to do anything to have my data working when Global Roaming?
Yes. - You must sign up for data - Have a Wireless Technician set up your phone
- Will I be able to use data without a sim card with my CDMA phone?
Yes. You can use data on your CDMA phone when roaming to the US and Japan without a sim card. - You must sign up for data - Have a Wireless Technician set up your phone. Data Roaming in the US is $0.01 per kb. Data Roaming in Japan is $0.03 per kb. (Data is not available on BlackBerry at this time on direct roaming in Japan , however you can use data when Global Roaming with BlackBerry)
- If I have technical problems while traveling how do I get assistance?
From your phone, if you are traveling outside the CNMI/Guam in a GSM network please dial +1-670-682-4ITE (4483). Global roaming airtime applies.
- What are the rates for IT&E Global Roaming by destination?
Destinations are broken down by zones. There are a total of 5 Zones. (Please see IT&E Global Roaming Rates for zone information.) There are 7 columns on the IT&E Global Roaming Rates that have pricings. Receive In - Shows how much it will cost per minute when receiving a call in the country you are in. In Country - Shows how much it will cost per minute when receiving a call within the same Zone. CNMI/Guam - Shows how much it will cost per minute when making a call to CNMI/Guam. Zone 1/2 - Shows how much it will cost per minute when making a call to destinations that fall under Zone 1/2. Zone 3 - Shows how much it will cost per minute when making a call to destinations that fall under Zone 3. Zone 4 - Shows how much it will cost per minute when making a call to destinations that fall under Zone 4. Zone 5 - Shows how much it will cost per minute when making a call to destinations that fall under Zone 5. Please see IT&E Global Roaming Rates for more details.
- How much is text message on IT&E Global Roaming?
Sending a text message through IT&E Global Roaming is $0.50 for all destinations, and $0.25 for receiving a text message.
